Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)
Upon successful completion of all program requirements, graduates will:
- Possess the educational background to do one or both of the following:
- Obtain employment in Mechanical Engineering Technology or other related field.
- Continue studies toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or other related field.
- Perform effectively individually or as a member of a team working on Mechanical Engineering projects in industry or academia.
- Act with the high professional, moral and ethical standards expected of a Mechanical Engineering Technician.
Student Outcomes (SOs)
Upon successful completion of all program requirements, graduates will possess:
- An ability to apply the knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of the discipline to narrowly defined engineering technology activities.
- An ability to apply a knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to engineering technology problems that require limited application of principles but extensive practical knowledge.
- An ability to conduct standard tests and measurements, and to conduct, analyze, and interpret experiments.
- An ability to function effectively as a member of a technical team.
- An ability to identify, analyze, and solve narrowly defined engineering technology problems.
- An ability to apply written, oral, and graphical communication in both technical and nontechnical environments; and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature.
- An ability to understand the need for and engage in self-directed continuing professional development
- An ability to understand and commit to address professional and ethical responsibilities, including a respect for diversity.
- An ability to commit to quality, timeliness, and continuous improvement.
- An ability to specify, calibrate and set-up instrumentation for mechanical components.
- Familiarity with industry codes and standards.
