Program Outcomes - (HJ17)


Upon successful completion of all program requirements, graduates will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate the ability to explain the basic structures and functions inherent in the American Criminal Justice system, and the broad range of roles and responsibilities of American law enforcement.                
  2. Identify the protections guaranteed in the first, fourth, fifth, sixth, eighth, and fourteenth amendments and demonstrate an understanding of the U.S. Supreme Court’s rulings that outline the specifics of those protections.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to explain the various forms of law, the legal elements of crime, and successfully apply legal criteria to complex cases.
  4. Demonstrate the ability to identify a range of ethical dilemmas faced by professionals within criminal justice careers, and develop possible actions/solutions to those problems that achieve the various goals inherent within a variety of ethical frameworks.
  5. Demonstrate basic understanding of the principles and practices inherent in sound criminal investigation practices.
  6. Demonstrate a basic understanding of the principles and practices inherent within the fields of science that contribute to the endeavors of forensic science. 
  7. Demonstrate basic understanding of the complexities involved in serving the needs of crime victims, the unique challenges inherent in victim relationships, and the importance and relevance of cultural competency.
